Overview

The Mixer Trough Liner Plate is a bolt-on, replaceable wear surface installed across the floor and lower sidewalls of the twin-shaft mixer trough in the AVL-CBP batching plant. Liner plates are segmented along the trough length to allow individual section replacement without removing the mixer shafts, and they absorb the abrasive and impact load from coarse aggregate, crushed stone, and recycled materials that would otherwise erode the structural trough shell directly.

Plates are profiled to match the curved trough floor geometry and are countersunk-bolted flush to provide a continuous, low-profile wear surface. The segmented approach means that the most heavily loaded zones — directly beneath the shaft arm sweep — can be replaced preferentially, extending the service life of lightly worn end sections.

Function

By absorbing aggregate impact and sliding abrasion, liner plates extend trough shell life from months to many years under intensive mixing duty. Consistent liner thickness ensures that the radial clearance between arm tips and the trough surface remains within specification — typically 3–6 mm — which is critical for complete paste pick-up and prevention of dead zones where unmixed material accumulates, compromising batch homogeneity. Maintaining OEM clearance also protects arm tips from ground contact, reducing arm wear rate.

Construction & quality

Plates are cut from Hardox 400 or Hardox 450 wear-resistant steel (mill-certified HB 370–430 or HB 420–480 respectively). Full-thickness certified plate is used throughout; no cladding or hard-facing overlay on standard supply. Plates are precision flame-cut or laser-cut to ±1.0 mm dimensional tolerance, countersunk for flush-face M16 or M20 hex-socket bolts in grade 8.8. Cut edges are deburred and seal-coated to prevent moisture ingress behind the plate. A custom bolt-pattern template drawn from the customer's trough shell is confirmed before cutting to ensure correct fitment.

When to replace

  • Liner plate surface worn to 50% or less of original thickness (ultrasonic gauge check)
  • Visible through-wear holes or cracks in any plate segment
  • Concrete paste visible behind or around plate fixing bolts
  • Clearance between mixing arm tips and trough floor exceeded 8 mm
  • Structural trough shell showing abrasion marks around plate edges or bolt holes

Compatibility & fitment

Plate sets are profiled and drilled to fit AVL-CBP mixer models 750, 1000, 1500, 2000, and 3000; Avelta supplies equivalent replacement sets for third-party twin-shaft mixer troughs on trough drawing or sample plate submission.

Why buy from Avelta

Avelta sources certified Hardox plate with full mill certification and cuts and finishes each set in-house to customer trough geometry, supplying complete M16/M20 bolt kits — ensuring a fast, verified fitment that restores trough clearance to OEM specification without on-site trimming.
