The Avelta AVL-CBP Concrete Batching Plant is a stationary, compulsory-mix concrete production system engineered for civil construction teams that demand consistent mix quality, high throughput, and reliable uptime on demanding road, bridge, and infrastructure projects. Designed for procurement engineers and plant managers who must justify capital expenditure against production schedules, the AVL-CBP range spans theoretical outputs from 25 m³/h for smaller site installations up to 160 m³/h for large highway corridors, ready-mix supply operations, and major civil works requiring continuous pour capability around the clock.
The plant operates on a fully computerised closed-loop batching cycle: aggregates are drawn from multi-compartment feed bins through individual weigh hoppers, cementitious materials are extracted from pressurised silos via sealed screw conveyors and weighed independently, and water with liquid admixtures is metered to ±0.5% accuracy before all constituents are simultaneously discharged into a high-shear twin-shaft compulsory mixer. Working Principle
How the Concrete Batching works

Aggregate Receiving and Storage
Coarse and fine aggregates are loaded into a multi-compartment feed bin assembly — standard four-compartment units hold 12–32 m³ in total — by wheel loader or belt conveyor from on-site stockpiles. Individual compartment gates allow each fraction to be drawn independently without cross-contamination.

Aggregate Weighing and Conveying
An inclined collecting belt conveyor draws each aggregate fraction in sequence through pneumatically actuated radial gates onto a suspended weigh hopper supported by digital load cells. The PLC accumulates aggregate fractions against the recipe target and closes each gate when the correct mass is reached, achieving weighing accuracy within ±2% of the target mass.

Cementitious Material Batching
Cement, fly ash, or ground granulated blast-furnace slag held in pressurised bulk silos is extracted by enclosed flighted screw conveyors directly into a dedicated cement weigh hopper. Separate weigh hoppers for each cementitious material prevent recipe contamination and allow multi-binder mixes to be batched simultaneously, with accuracy held to ±1%.

Water and Admixture Dosing
Mixing water stored in a sealed overhead tank is metered into the water weigh hopper by a butterfly valve and electromagnetic flow meter to ±0.5% precision. Liquid admixtures — plasticisers, retarders, accelerators — are individually dosed by peristaltic pumps from dedicated 200–600 litre stainless-lined tanks mounted on the plant's upper deck, with each admixture metered to its recipe proportion by weight or volume.

Compulsory Twin-Shaft Mixing
All weighed constituents are discharged simultaneously into the twin-shaft compulsory mixer. Contra-rotating shafts fitted with replaceable mixing arms and liners work the charge in a high-shear planetary pattern, achieving full homogeneity typically within 45–75 seconds regardless of mix stiffness or aggregate maximum size up to 80 mm.

Discharge and Truck Loading
On completion of the mixing cycle the PLC-controlled discharge gate opens and the finished concrete falls by gravity into the body of a waiting transit mixer, dump truck, or pump hopper positioned below the mixer outlet. A concrete discharge chute with sealed dust skirt directs the material cleanly and minimises segregation during transfer.
