Overview

The Admixture Peristaltic Pump Tube is the consumable pumping element inside the admixture dosing peristaltic pump on the AVL-CBP concrete batching plant. The tube is compressed and released by a rotating roller or shoe head, creating positive-displacement flow with no seals, valves, or wetted metal surfaces — a critical advantage when handling aggressive chemical admixtures including PCE superplasticisers, retarders, accelerators, air-entraining agents, and corrosion inhibitors.

The tube is the only item in the pump that contacts the admixture directly, which means its chemical compatibility with the specific admixture formulation in use governs both pumping accuracy and the service life of the pump head components. An incompatible or fatigued tube is the single most common source of admixture dosing errors on batching plants.

Function

The tube's internal bore volume per revolution governs dosing accuracy. As the tube progressively fatigues from repeated compression cycles, its wall loses elastic recovery, internal volume per revolution drifts downward, and dosing consistency decreases — altering concrete workability, setting time, and, in the case of superplasticiser under-dosing on high-specification mixes, reducing early-age strength gain. Scheduled tube replacement before failure prevents both dosing-related quality incidents and the pump-head damage caused by internal tube failure under pressure.

Construction & quality

Tubes are extruded from natural rubber (NR) for standard PCE superplasticisers and water-reducing admixtures, EPDM for mildly oxidising or high-pH admixtures, or Viton/FKM for solvent-bearing or highly aggressive chemical formulations. Wall thickness is precision-controlled to ±0.2 mm across the full tube length to maintain volumetric accuracy. Tubes are reinforced with braided nylon or polyester where operating pressures exceed 2 bar. End fittings are moulded with compression-compatible collars for tool-free replacement within the pump head. Each tube is pressure-tested before dispatch.

When to replace

  • Admixture dosing volume drifting from set-point on flow-meter or weight reconciliation check
  • Surface cracking, blistering, or hardening visible on the tube exterior
  • Internal tube split causing loss of pump prime or admixture bypass
  • Abnormal increase in pump drive motor current indicating tube stiffening
  • Admixture leakage from pump head end-plates around the tube collar

Compatibility & fitment

Available in internal diameters and end-connection formats compatible with admixture pump heads fitted to all AVL-CBP plant models; Avelta provides tube material selection guidance keyed to the admixture product data sheet to ensure chemical compatibility.

Why buy from Avelta

Avelta stocks admixture pump tubes in all standard compounds and bore sizes, supplying chemistry-matched replacements that maintain dosing accuracy and protect the pump head interior from chemical attack due to incompatible elastomers.
